Rob spent
his formative years in Hawaii before beginning a long
college career that began at Harvard studying pre-law and
ended more than a decade later with a degree and highest
honors in anthropology from the University of California,
Santa Cruz. It was the allure of maritime adventure that
time and again seduced him away from his studies. So, with
degree in hand, Rob did the first thing to pop into his
heart, and bought a 120-foot derelict hull in the
Caribbean, made brief repairs and sailed to the South
Pacific for extensive refitting. Since 1993 the Nai'a has
been one of the premier vessels in the world's live-aboard
dive fleet.
As if Rob
and the Nai'a needed another blessing, Cat Holloway, an
Australian dive magazine editor, with a scintillating
smile and lively Aussie wit, came aboard to research an
article about the Fiji experience in 1996. Cat had reached
the end of her rainbow - Rob, Fiji, and the Nai'a - the
complete package. The dream-duo have been together ever
since, adding a very nice touch in the person of baby Malia in 2004.
